Volunteers provide the muscle and presence for Iron Disorders
Institute (IDI) nationally, globally and in local communities at blood
banks, at conferences and during campaigns. Volunteers serve in
different capacities; they may work from home, at school or on a team;
they may be full time or respond to a single “call to action”—or some
need of the organization. They are men and women of all ages and
ethnicities. People who volunteer do so for different reasons. They
want to give back to an organization that helped them, a family member,
a friend or a co-worker. They may be charged with interest for a
particular issue such as awareness, access to care, standards of care,
treatments and cures, education, laws and policies. Volunteers also
help with our grounds and facilities maintenance, writing, graphic
design work, fact-checking and information mining—collectively
volunteers of IDI want to see the organization prosper and help to
carry out its mission.
