Hi there

I am 47 and have HH and was diagnosed in 2010. I had a venesection almost every week for 12 months and reduced Ferritin from 836 to just below 50 - my target. I never felt unwell really I went to doc to discuss hairloss and stiffness. In recent months though my joints have become unbearable, my forefingers are swollen and my hips are the worst. I have arthritis in my right hip but the lack of strength in my joints is worrying. I am small, lightweight and very fit, but i fear that the fitness is going to wane if I can't move so well! My ferritin is still around 50 (with venesections planned at 3 month intervals). I am going to see my Consultant next week and hope to tell him about my symptoms and hope he can help.

yumm this looks goodhope u feel beettr soon, its the weather i feel totally the same and i have the same iron problems :( i do a really quick spinash dish which is yummy and tasty, i usually do it in my wokput some oil in the wok. take one onion and slice it finely and put it in the oil, take a couple of garlics and slice it also and put it with the onions until they stars to caramelize.take a bag of spinash and put it in the wok on top of the onion and garlic and stir, lower the heat so the water starts coming down and take a potato and cut it in small wedges and put it with the spinash and let it cook all together, put salt, black pepper and nutmeg. when cooked put some chopped coriander on top... quite yummy with steak, which is also an excellent iron booster :) xox
