Arthritis Foundation:
Excess iron is a risk factor for osteoarthritis, osteomalacia, and osteoporosis. Patients with rheumatoid arthritis can have Anemia of Chronic Disease as a result of the inflammation and might be inappropriately given iron supplements.

American Diabetes Association:
Excess iron is a risk factor for diabetes mellitus. Nearly 90% of patients with hemochromatosis who have diabetes, have type II diabetes. For more information about diabetes go to:
