Gerry Koenig is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania. He has two children and one grandson and lives in Austin, Texas, with his wife, Anne.
Gerry has 25 years of banking and investment banking executive experience with firms that included Salomon Brothers in New York and Drexel Burnham Lambert in
California. Gerry's interest in iron disorders came about after learning that iron overload contributed to his own need for a liver transplant. He has since investigation why iron disorders

are so frequently misdiagnosed and is currently working with IDI to develop a program to screen for the early warning signs of iron out-of-balance. When implemented, the program
will schedule education and screening events throughout the country. Gerry advises the Hemochromatosis Education and Screening Project (HESP) at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill and supports clinical trial patient participation. He is currently participating in a National Institutes of Health trial testing immunosuppressive withdrawal following liver transplantation.
